Description
This state-owned airstrip once served a popular hot spring resort down in the canyon, where the owner would pick up arriving pilots after they buzzed overhead. That era has passed — there are no public facilities currently open, only a few private cabins.
Location & Elevation The airport sits about 9 miles west of Three Creek, Idaho, at an elevation of 5,829 feet.
Runway The single runway (1/19) is 5,250 × 120 feet with a turf surface in fair condition. Runway edges and thresholds are marked with white rock, and there is no line of sight between runway ends.
Operations The field is publicly owned by the Idaho Division of Aeronautics, open to the public, unattended, and has no control tower. CTAF is 122.9. It has tiedowns but no airframe or powerplant services. No phone is available at the airport.
Key Pilot Notes There is no winter maintenance. The runway is recommended for landing on Runway 19 and departing on Runway 01 when wind conditions allow. The runway can be soft in spring and when wet. A pilot report from July 2022 noted the grass was uncut and the strip had not been dragged, though the tiedown area had been mowed.
Facilities Basic navigational aids include a windsock and segmented circle. Camping under the wing is permitted.
It's a classic remote Idaho backcountry strip — beautiful setting, but plan for self-sufficiency. No fuel, no services, and access by road is via low-standard routes.
