    Description

Nice little airport. About a 10 minute walk to the beach. There are several restaraunts also within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Coastal fog occurs generally during the summer months, but often clears for at least several hours during the day. Plan accordingly. KSBP and KSMX are both inland a bit so the weather reports do not always match conditions at L52.

Clear approaches to both runways although there are some small trees that make it look worse than it is. Noise sensitive to the west. The Pismo Beach State park requires 1000' minimum altitude along the entire beach except for takeoff and landing. Use caution on nice days, there are pilots who don't know this rule and buzz the beach right off the west end of the runway.

This is a good place to start working on your short field capabilities before heading off to the backcountry. If you are not comfortable here, you don't belong at 5000' dodging trees.
