    Description

Nice little airport. About a 10 minute walk to the beach. There are several restaraunts also within 5-10 minutes walking distance. Coastal fog occurs generally during the summer months, but often clears for at least several hours during the day. Plan accordingly. KSBP and KSMX are both inland a bit so the weather reports do not always match conditions at L52.

Clear approaches to both runways although there are some small trees that make it look worse than it is. Noise sensitive to the west. The Pismo Beach State park requires 1000' minimum altitude along the entire beach except for takeoff and landing. Use caution on nice days, there are pilots who don't know this rule and buzz the beach right off the west end of the runway.

This is a good place to start working on your short field capabilities before heading off to the backcountry. If you are not comfortable here, you don't belong at 5000' dodging trees.

Landing at Shelter Cove (0Q5) - Amazing Lost Coast airstrip!

Landing at Shelter Cove Airport (0Q5) on the Lost Coast of Northern California. What an amazing place to fly into - the single runway is right on a golf course, with people walking their dogs and such on the taxiway, and houses on both sides. The whole thing juts out into the ocean, and it's really a unique and gorgeous approach.

Surfridge, Abandoned Roads at the End of LAX Runways

Join Kendall as he tells you the story of the former housing development along the Pacific Ocean known as Surfridge. This beautiful neighborhood was lost due to growth, expansion and modernized technology. As the Southern California area grew and jet planes were introduced, this beautiful neighborhood disappeared. If you've ever driven along Vista Del Mar near Dockweiler Beach, you've probably noticed this unusual sight or site as it is both. Learn the story of this abandoned neighborhood.

Join Kendall as he and his friend, the video camera, take you on an adventure. The autistic artist, graphic designer, and filmmaker shares some of his favorite places to visit. Normally not overly social, he comes to life when he has a conversation with the camera and his viewers. Kendall starts the adventures with a quick history lesson where you are bound to learn something new. He uses his God-given gifts to bless the world and encourages others to do the same. His motto is "autistic and gifted...God doesn't make mistakes."
