    Description

N/S Main strip is wide, long, and flat. Mostly thin grass. E/W Cross strip is slightly shorter and more narrow but still plenty wide enough for low wing aircraft. The E/W strip has more terrain changes and has a moderate hill in the middle. There are some tie down eyelets in the E/W strip near the intersection if you look hard enough. Wind sock on south east corner of intersection. Excellent camp site across road. Slight uphill grade on N/S strip but easily landed either way based on winds.

A back country flight with Luke Watters of OK3 Air out of Heber City, Utah. It was a great flight and lots of fun flying a Cessna 182 with glass cockpit. This video has some nice GoPro shots as well.

Willow Springs Road. Moab, UT. Solo. #127

Willow Springs Road is a pretty easy trail that'll take you from the middles of Arches National Park to the highway popping you out near the airport. The beginning is smooth desert and then you slowly get into some rocks and more plant life. At one point this whole thing was under the ocean, when it drained and new banks were formed dinosaurs roamed the area through the mud. At on point there is a pull off where there are many tracks in this one chute that have been preserved for 165 million years. Awesome to SEE. "See" being the keyword as you should not make any casts, stomp in, rub or do anything to disturb this massive artifact. At one point you see me exit the park border and there is about a mile where a drone would be legal before getting too close to the airport. Right after this though is where the most offroading is so I decided to keep it classic B Roll and finish the day out droneless. Have fun out there!

      My Tires:
      https://amzn.to/2whk2MF

I love these tires. The only others I'd take are the BFG KO2 but they don't make them in this size and the KM2's are amazing. You can probably imagine the amount of driving I do weekly and how much abuse my tires get. These things last, everyone knows this, you've seen it in my videos.

      My Tire Deflators:
      https://amzn.to/2nYVxzU

These tire deflators have many $15 copies but the others just don't hold up or are inaccurate. I don't know what the deal is, they look identical to me too but read the reviews- they're bad. I've been using these Staun's for over a year and never had a problem, I air down a lot. Set them at the trail so your tires will be the same temp when you get to the trail next time.

      My Compressor:
      https://amzn.to/2PuerLH

There are better ones but I'd just get a bigger VIAIR, not someone different. Airs up all my 33's from 14psi to 37psi in less than 10 minutes. The in-line gauge is inaccurate when the compressor is on because of the pressure passing through. You need to switch it off to get a real reading. You can combat this by figuring out what incorrect reading corresponds to the real one. When mine is right at 3 Bar (43psi) it's slightly over 37psi. I put it on another tire and then use my real gauge to set it exactly.

      My Microphone:
      https://amzn.to/2P1S3sb

My microphone is the worst good mic you can get. BUT don't be fooled, it's a very good mic. Picture me getting in my car for the 50th time after I just ran up and down a hill... for the 50th time. Do you see me disconnecting my mic and gingerly setting it in a case? No. It stays connected to the tripod, gets thrown into my plastic cargo area and bounces around with other heavy items until the next one. It gets terrible interference from WiFi so you must make sure that it's off on your camera or phone. If you are trying to use this with your phone you need to get a TRS to TRRS cable which RODE makes. This is required because your phone will think the mic is headphones.

      My Tripod:
      https://amzn.to/2o8h6hL

I went through 2 tripods in 1 month, a $20 and a $30. Buy it nice or buy it thrice. This thing gets opened and closed MANY times per week in rain, snow, dirt, and even in the middle of rivers. I love the 2-stage legs so i can make it real low in 2sec instead of shortening all the legs.

      My Drone:
      https://amzn.to/2KUGWAp

You can tell how easy it was to progress through my videos. Besides maybe five times, you've seen every bit of flying since I got it. I don't fly in the city and I don't go to the mountains and not make a video. It is VERY easy to use.

      My Drone ND Filters:
      https://amzn.to/2MHV0R0

The filters are a must. Again I have the worst ones and I am still very pleased. My first use was video #35 and I think it is very apparent. Illinois Gulch (#34 obviously) has a completely white sky, way too much blue. I'm still not even good about selecting the right one or changing them out but it's 10x better than nothing.

      My Books:

FunTreks books are great. I like to bring as much information as possible when I go to the middle of nowhere. They have coordinates and maps for everything, very in-depth info on sturdy pages.

This is the stuff I've tested, this is what I like. I am very hard on all of my equipment frequently and it still works. I back all of these items and each company seems to back their product very well too. I guess it's easy to offer a warranty when your stuff doesn't break.

October 10, 2013 - After replacing my tach cable, I needed to do a mx flight, so I used it as an opportunity to go look at the leaves, check out the conditions at an airstrip I'd like to check out some day, and to finally land on the dirt strip at my home airport. All in all, a great afternoon of flying!
