    Description

Beautiful high country airstrip at the edge of the Bookcliff mountains. Narrow graded dirt strip with high brush and trees on both sides.
Great place to camp. Several other great strips to explore within 10 miles. Closest fuel at Mack Mesa C07.
Located at 8200' so plan accordingly for high D.A. in the summer.

Landing Poison Spring Airstrip (clip) | Utah Backcountry

Putting this out for two reasons.. as a reference for anyone else thinking of landing there, this will show what is involved, and also as a little preview video to my full Utah adventure that is ~28min and will be uploaded on Monday hopefully. (Soon). Poison Spring is rated as the most hazardous / difficult strip in Utah. My thoughts are that you need fairly large tires and landing gear that can take the rough / roller coaster section through the middle. If you can land fairly slow/short, and have the right gear, it's not too big of a deal. Large/fast airplanes are gong to have a real hard time maneuvering the tight canyon wall and getting stopped without damaging the gear. Depending on the plane, this can go from not too bad - to straight up broken! Thanks for watching... the full video is coming together really well, excited to get it posted soon!

      Poison Spring Airstrip part 1

The most hazardous airstrip in Utah (or so they say). I would have to agree that it's pretty bad.

The right airplane, right pilot, right conditions - definitely landable.

Did find some broken airplane parts on the airstrip for those who are brave and want to land there "just because". Looked like a fiberglass spinner.
