    Description

This location is an island in the mainstem Willamette River 1 mile East of the town of Dayton, OR. The island shore adjacent to the main river channel is composed of gravel, 3/4" to 1" inches in diameter. I paced the area off at approximately 400 yards, plus.

At the time I landed here, the gravel was softer in some areas than others. Be aware that the conditions of the landing area can change with river flow, heavy weather, etc. I would not recommend landing an aircraft here unless you (pilot) feel qualified, have a properly equipped aircraft, and are willing to accept the responsibility (and cost) for anything that happens if the proverbial S@%t hits the fan.

The Miami River evolved over thousands of years from a tidal channel into a freshwater stream that carried water from the Everglades to Biscayne Bay. It is the oldest natural landmark in Southeast Florida. The 5.5-mile (8.9 km) long river flows from the terminus of the Miami Canal at Miami International Airport to Biscayne Bay. The 15-foot deep navigable waterway's shoreline features public riverwalks, city parks, over 7,000 new residential units, 17 restaurants, and 16 historic sites.

Good fun taking off so steep that the tail falls to the ground ... challenging uphill-then-flat-on-the-top strip of 210 metres with the Savannah VG. It's unbelievable what this aircraft can do ... it never says "no" ! Thanks Matt for letting me land, this is the most challenging strip so far for me ... and one with amazing 180 degree views over the North Sea as well. Oct 18.

      To Oregon

This is a short film about a trip that I took to Oregon. The purpose of this trip was to attend a memorial service for a friend who was killed in a mid air collision. This story is about friendship, flying, and how bonds are formed with otherwise complete strangers via the internet and a shared passion for Backcountry Aviation.

      Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette's

Fashion Show Benefit for the Equal Access Fund

      Wednesday, August 31st -- 7 to 11 PM
Doors at 7 PM, show at 8 PM, dance party to follow
      The Fez Ballroom & Lounge
316 Southwest 11th Avenue, Portland, OR

      Why partner with Planned Parenthood?

Planned Parenthood has a proven track record of packing events with our passionate and community-minded supporters: attendees are on average 25-44 year old professionals, with high levels of education, and incomes in the $25,000 to $65,000 range. They are climbing their career ladders and are today's leaders and opinion drivers. When they share their beliefs with peers, why wouldn't you want your business to be part of their conversation? The 2011 Fashion Show Benefit will attract 300 of our supporters who appreciate the opportunity to support businesses that give to Planned Parenthood.

      Fashion Show Benefit

Planned Parenthood is organizing an all-star Fashion Show Benefit that will feature local Portland designers, including such stand-outs as Modi Soondarotok (Idom Designs), Dayna Pinkham (Pinkham Millinery), Natalie Barela and Lucy Rockwell (Midge Loungewear), and others!

Local designers will send their collections down the runway, showing their favorite as well as new pieces. Our supporters will enjoy beverages, shop the silent auction, and revel in Portland's up and coming fashion scene. After the show, dance the night away with us at a special dance party! All proceeds will benefit Planned Parenthood's special patient fund: the Equal Access Fund.

What is the Equal Access Fund?

PPCW is committed to helping low-income lesbian and bisexual women, and trans people access basic reproductive and sexual health care through our Equal Access Fund. This fund gives all individuals with limited financial resources the same access to free annual exams and Pap tests now accorded only to low-income heterosexual women seeking contraception. (An annual exam and Pap test could cost up to $370 out of pocket.) Annual exams are an essential part of preventive reproductive and sexual health care. Regular access to annual exams has been a major factor in reducing the incidence of, and survival rates from, cervical and breast cancer -- cancers already more prevalent in the LBTQ community.
