Description
There is no formal strip here. This is a large gravel bar on the confluence of the Kelly River into the Noatak River. The flow of the river, snow, and ice changes this bar from year to year. It's heavily used as a pickup and drop off point for individuals floating the rivers. From early summer into September tracks can be seen easily from the air taxi operators in the area. There is a ranger station located just up river and on shore.
Because the location of this strip changes slightly from year to year the conditions are a bit unpredictable. The sizes of the rocks vary on the bar from small gravel to softball sized rocks, so large tires are preferable if not required for most operations.
This bar is located in the Noatak River no hunting zone during hunting season.
