Description
Durand Municipal is a small paved airstrip that was once the home of Gifford Aviation, back when it was owned by Gordon Gifford. It is a private airstrip, so please obtain permission before coming to the airport. 100LL Avgas is available on-site. Just a few miles up the road is the small town of Durand, WI, where you can buy groceries and there are many restaraunts on the Chippewa River. The many farmers who live around the area are often willing to let others hunt on their land in order to keep the animal population down. The airport is right next to the Chippewa, making it easy to find if coming from the south. Just follow the Mississippi River north until you pass the town of Winona, then keep following the river and take the first river that goes East (it should be a right turn.) Follow the river until Durand Mun is on your right side. If you reach Saint Paul/Minneapolis on the Mississippi, you've gone too far. Please note that these navigation directions might be slightly faulty due to small creeks that are tributaries to the Mississippi. Please ensure that you have a chart and/or a GPS to safely navigate to any airport.
