Description
The Dixie Town airstrip is situated one block from Dixie's main street, about three miles northeast of the USFS Dixie airstrip. It's privately owned, but the owner allows landing at your own risk. It's open to the public, and adjacent amenities include the Dixie RV Park (with showers and ice available), plus a mountain cabin that can be rented sleeping up to 11 people. Pilots report it's a nice spot with a bed and breakfast serving food and friendly owners, though it offers less parking space than some other backcountry strips. Parking is available along the east side of the runway.
Key considerations for pilots: Hazards include rising terrain, density altitude, and mountain/canyon weather. Backcountry experience is strongly recommended before flying into either strip.
