Set the alarm for 3 AM and arrived Brian Ranch at 5:30 just as the sun came up.
Dave & Harley flew their HiMax ultralights to El Mirage and Bill & Tom flew the RANS S-7 to the Slash X airstrip near Hwy. 247, but didn't land.
I flew the Super Sky Surfer while they were gone :-)

      Dust-Up at Brian Ranch

A pair of Blackhawk helicopters from the California Air National Guard got in a practice dirt strip landing in a brisk crosswind on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Brian Ranch Airport in the Antelope Valley.

The ANG had asked permission several days earlier from the owners of the private strip that caters to ultralight and experimental light sport aircraft. Pilots based at the field were given advance notice but the wind and cold had grounded the Saturday regulars anyway, so the Blackhawk pilots had the field to themselves.

      Quicksilver Morning

It's a beautiful August morning at Brian Ranch Airport as my video camera and I ride along in a Quicksilver experimental light sport aircraft. Hot air balloons are doing some precision landings nearby. Friends at nearby Area 52 airport are flying, and El Mirage dry lakebed beyond beckons to a variety of recreation seekers. Join us.

Rare Photos Not Appropriate for History Books

History is a strange thing. In many cases, the only things we know about history are things that have been captured in photos or in books. While written history can be manipulated, photos seem to be the only things that can truthfully inform us of the past. You'll see many of these photos in history books. However, some of these photos are NOT appropriate for history books, and as a result, you may never see them. Until today! We've found the inappropriate photos from history and we're going to show you them and discuss why they are not found in history books.
