      Dalton Discoveries: Old Bettles

In 1945, much of what used to be the town of Bettles, at the northernmost navigable spot on the Koyukuk River, was moved 7 miles upstream to the new Bettles airfield. Many cabins and other buildings still remain in Old Bettles, although most have fallen into various states of disrepair. Visitors who make the trek to the old townsite are urged to leave all historic objects in place for the enjoyment of future travelers!

Laura's Intro Flight with Sarah at Alaska Floats and Skis

Hope everyone enjoys this footage as much as I enjoyed seeing it for the first time. Laura had an intro flight that beat any I have ever heard of. She logged her first flight time - flying in a floatplane over beautiful Alaska where she saw a bear, flew over a glacier, and landed at a remote lake. Please keep in mind that there was hours of footage that I have edited down to around thirty minutes. Sarah did an incredible and detailed job teaching and checklists were run for each critical phase of flight. However, some of this was edited out for the sake of time.

Taming Alaska's Deadly Dalton in the 2014 Toyota 4Runner Limited! - Epic Drives Ep. 29

It's known as one of the most dangerous roads in the world: the rough, desolate two-lane Dalton Highway that shadows the Alaska Pipeline from Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean. Host Arthur St. Antoine takes up the challenge of this infamous byway in a 2014 Toyota 4Runner SUV, driving from the Canadian border all the way past the Arctic Circle to the alien oil fields of Prudhoe Bay. Along the way, he encounters dog mushers, floatplanes, thundering big-rigs, bears, wrecked vehicles, and a landscape unrivaled for its challenges, remoteness ... and beauty.
