    Description

The gravel airstrip located in the isolated Pakoon Basin of Mohave County, Arizona, is overseen by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and functions as an essential hub for fire watch personnel within the Grand Canyon Parashant National Monument.

This facility is strategically positioned in a dry environment with sparse vegetation, and its well-kept access roads are suitable for ATV side-by-side and high-clearance vehicles, aimed at facilitating swift responses to wildfires and conducting routine patrols.

The BLM's management guarantees the preservation of this distinctive ecosystem and demonstrates our dedication to conservation in the core of the Mojave Desert.

Ice Cave Glimpse - March 2023

This is not a true cave. It is a slot canyon that G. Luke Whitney and Family went to for their 4th of July picnic because it was much cooler there than the surrounding area. If you look at the top of the slot, you will often see an owl that lives there.

How the Resistance Took Back Paris from the Nazis!

The day Paris was nearly lost forever.

August 1944. After four long years under Nazi occupation, Paris erupts. As the Allies advance toward the capital, a critical question divides the high command: should they liberate Paris immediately or bypass it to push faster toward Berlin? With the risk of a bloody uprising growing, the French Resistance takes action. Barricades rise, street battles rage, and the people fight for their freedom. For General de Gaulle, this is a historic chance — Paris must be freed by the French themselves. On August 25, German forces surrender. The City of Light is free again, celebrating its liberation along the Champs-Élysées. But behind the triumphant scenes lie deep political tensions, Allied disagreements, and the terrifying possibility that Hitler could have ordered Paris destroyed.
