Close down an airstrip to race supercars? Sure thing! Let's go! As part of our role as ambassadors for @gmspecialtyvehicles9260 we get to do some pretty cool stuff - including spending 2 days with the crew from the @Bullrushrally, an annual event sponsored by GMSV. Usually you will see us championing the Silverado HD - but this weekend it was all about the Corvette! We had the blue one at Casino airport which was closed off just so the supercars could drag race along the airstrip, and the red one at Queensland Raceway. What an incredible experience! To be surrounded by over 50 of the most INSANE supercars you’ve ever seen - and to be able to race against them in the Corvette was next level bucket list stuff. And yes, the Corvette beat more than one of them!

The Bullrush Rally is an annual event where entrants participate in a range of different events, from driving breath taking roads in a convoy of super cars, building friendships over dinner at some of Australia’s top restaurants, partying at the most exclusive venues, to pitting car against car, driver against driver, in competitive yet fun motor sport environments.

However above all else, the proudest achievement of Bullrush Rally and its entrants is their ability to help and contribute. Bullrush Rally has raised over $150,000 to various charities Australia wide. Opportunities like this don’t come up often and we want to say a HUGE thank you to GMSV! We are so grateful and honoured to have been able to participate for a couple of days this year and who knows, one day you might see us taking part in the entire rally!

We are full time caravanners who love the vanlife! We sold everything and now travel Australia in our Titanium Destination X Caravan and Chevy Silverado. Roadtrip Australia? Yes please!

Airstrip Attack 5 comes back to Coalinga on April 19th and 20th, 2014.

Follow along as we take a day trip in our Bonanza up to Shelter Cove, CA (0Q5) from Concord (KCCR). I've flown there a handful of times before, and each time it's been truly special. Gyppo Ale Mill overlooks the runway and is a lovely lunch spot with great beer (for the passengers) and fresh local fish. I brought the Skydio 2, which captured some great shots of the cliffs, the black sand beaches, and the seals getting their tan on. And we got out just in time before the fog rolled back in, taking a couple minutes to fly low along the Lost Coast before heading back home.

Shelter Cove has frequent GA traffic on nice days like this, so keep an eye and ear out for nearby aircraft, monitor the airport's CTAF (122.9) if you have an aviation radio, and fly well out of the way of the traffic pattern.]

No trees or power poles in a 5 mile radius, a flat grassy field of 470 acres, zero population. No club BS no rules and regulations. An aerial view from aGoPro mounted on a RC Interstate Cadet of GARDNER Field in Kern County California - one of the best airfields for RC model airplanes in the world. From jets to gliders this place is the perfect location for flying model airplanes. It's getting hot during the day with an average of 100 F. So the best time to fly is in the early hours of the day with no wind and tolerable temperatures. About 100 miles north of Los Angeles off the interstate 5 near the town of Taft. While it might get crowded (20 people of 470 acres) on the weekends it's like a ghost field during the week. There are no restriction signs and the RC people are behaving like one big family. A great place to make friends with planes!

Gardner Field was a small Army Air Forces training field authorized in 1940 and activated in 1941. It was located 9 miles southeast of Taft. The field was operated by the Air Technical Service Command. Gardner operated BT-13 & PT-17 aircraft for primary training. The original configuration of the airfield at Gardner is unknown, but it was depicted on the 1945 Mojave Aeronautical Chart with the symbol indicating that its longest runway was between 5,500-6,500'.

Although the date of closure of Gardner AAF is unknown, it was still depicted as an active military airfield on the 1944 Los Angeles Sectional Chart. Gardner most likely closed shortly after the end of World War II, if not before. It was no longer depicted as an airfield of any kind on the 1964 LA Sectional Chart.
